QUESTION
_What are the pillars of Ṣalāt (Prayer)?_
ANSWER
There are fourteen (14) pillars of Ṣalāt and they are:
⑴ Standing if there is ability.
⑵ The opening Takbīr.
⑶ Recitation of Sūrah al-Fātiḥah.
⑷ Rukūʿ (Bowing).
⑸ Standing up straight after the Rukūʿ.
⑹ Sujūd (prostration) upon seven (7) parts of the body (2 palms, 2 knees, 2 toes and the forehead, which includes the nose)
⑺ Raising from the Sujūd (prostration).
⑻ Sitting between the two prostrations.
⑼ Tranquility in all the pillars (and actions of the Ṣalāt).
⑴⒪ Sequence (of all the parts of the Ṣalāt).
⑴⑴ The Last Tashahhud.
⑴⑵ Sitting for the Tashahhud.
⑴⑶ Salutation (of exaltation and blessings of Allāh) upon the Prophet ﷺ.
⑴⑷ The two Taslīm (at the end of the Ṣalāt).
